DAWN (Data Analytics for Well-being & Neighborhoods,
The DAWN (Data Analytics for Well-being & Neighborhoods) Research Group was established at the University of Oxford in 2020 by Dr. Yunzhe Liu, currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Population Research, School of Social Development, East China Normal University.
Embracing the new research paradigm of Computational Social Science in the Digital Intelligence Era, the group utilises multi-source data to deeply analyse patterns of socio-spatial disparities, aiming to optimise urban neighbourhood environments and enhance resident well-being.
Currently, DAWN has established collaborations with researchers and teams from world-renowned universities, including the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, University College London (UCL), University of Leeds, and University of Liverpool in the UK; the University of Southern California (USC) in the USA; and Peking University, Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, and East China University of Science and Technology in China, forming a cross-regional and interdisciplinary collaborative research network.
Positioned at the cutting-edge intersection of Computational Social Science, Demography, Geography, Public Health, and Urban Planning, the group utilises multi-source urban spatio-temporal data and Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) to deeply analyse patterns of socio-spatial disparities and inequality within complex urban systems. Through data-driven empirical research, the group aims to provide a scientific, human-centric, and evidence-based foundation for understanding the evolution of urban social systems and promoting sustainable development.
